Jesus is speaking the truth, He was sent by his father to earth to correct the mess that Satan has made here. By doing so and succeeding he has given mankind the opportunity to get that eternal life the scripture is talking about.
To understand this scripture better read Proverbs 8 :22-31, Col 1:15-17, Rev 3:14 Once you have understood what position Jesus occupies in his fathers realm, you then will be able to get a better understanding of God's purpose for the earth and mankind. Jesus said at Mathew 5;5, what Psalms 37:9-11,29 states about man and the earth. gemhandy@hotmail.com

because the son and the father are one! OK.

Jesus is saying that his is one with God.
The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected - proving His victory over sin and death.

Jesus says it clearly that he is here to do God's work and that is why he was sent. If you look at John 1:1. Jesus is to be put in where you see the W capitalized. In John 10:30 Jesus also says that "I and my father are one. Jesus had a commission in the flesh to bring the truth.

The only bizarre incident that it doesn't make complete sense is when Jesus petitions God the father. For instance in the garden of Gethsemane when he asked for another way, or on the cross when he asked why he was forsaken.
Although I can see that these could have been given to Jesus to say for our benefit as is the case as quoted by Jesus in other instances to show his humanity.
The thing is, is that you can approach the bible in two ways.
1) You can approach it with doubt and say prove to me your accurate and correct and then Ill believe, or you can 2) Say the bible is true and I will show how my existence and my world fits into it.

The Triune God works together to achieve a single will. The Son of God and Spirit of God do exactly what God the father does.

I say Jesus kept his opinions to himself.
He always voiced God's opinion ....although its safe to say his and His were the same.
