It means that when Christ speaks He speaks with Divine Authority. He's not just the Son of God, He is God.
Whoever accepts Christ accepts the Father who sent Him.

When Jesus says "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.45When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me." He is saying that if you believe in Jesus you believe in God also because Jesus is God manifested in human flesh. They are one. When he says "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness," it means exactly what is says, through Jesus Christ you will find light and everlasting life, through darkness you will find nothing.

Jesus is speaking the truth. Jesus is the perfect image of God (the father). Jesus is the perfect personification of God the father, because, Jesus does what the father does, that is why the father loves the son and the son loves the father. Jesus said he is the way the truth and the life (john 14:6), Jesus is the "narrow" road that leads to eternal life.
"Enter through the narrow gate (Jesus Christ); for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it." marthew 7:13

it seems to make sense. you can't have the Son without the Father, nor the Father without the Son. Jesus did come as light: He spoke truth (illumination) where there was darkness (confusion, deception). those who stick with the light, are no longer in darkness. if you have a light bulb, the darkness is only where the light doesn't shine. but if you turn off that light bulb or leave it in a dark room and run, you're now in darkness, and'll bump into things. again another reason to keep up your faith. bulbs need a power source to keep shining.

I think I like it better in the King James Version. A certain dignity to it with it's flowing cadences as well as doing justice to the import of the text, wouldn't you agree?
