If you mean antibacterial and it's infected, you should. Otherwise it won't do any good. There used to be an otc med called Outgro that would fix ingrown toenails. If you can't find it, use the broad end of a flat toothpick to pry the edge of the nail up every time you get out of the bath or shower, while it's still soft. That's what I do and I never have this problem.

you have to be cautious as if the wound is open it may get into the blood stream. Usually it reads do not use on open cuts or wounds! Mupirocin is designed for topical use only. An ingrown toenail may cause bleeding. Use peroxide diluted 1:5 to clean and air dry of possible. Wear Clean sox and loose shoes. Shorten nails with sterile clippers

And just what do you think thats gonna do? All I can tell you is its not gonna hurt ya, but it sure isnt gonna help that ingrown nail either. Ive never seen an ingrown nail thats become infected, so why apply the antibacterial? Im stumped by this question. What do you think its gonna do? Make the nail grow out faster? But by all means, if itll make you feel better mentally, go for it!

No-- the nail needs to be professionally trimmed by a podiatrist who can numb the area and do the procedure and disinfect it.

the best thing to do is go to a Podiatrist and have it cut out and he will prescribe something for you. My hubby did finally after suffering for years and he says it was the best thing he ever did. He has never had anymore problems and that was 3-years ago. Don't cut them yourself, let the Doc show you what to do.
