By using an established set of rules you can take a premise or series of premises and make a logically valid conclusion from them. Logic would state that if the premises are true, and the logic is valid, then the conclusion must also be true.
Think of it as mathematics for concepts.

Essentially, its using observation and thought process to predict possibility vs. impossibility.
Pertaining to religion:
Many do not believe in god because of their logical reasoning, or by evalutating conflicting ideas (such as free will and an all knowing god) they have come to disprove certain religious ideas. Ex: If god knows everything (past, future and present) then your decisions are not your own, as they have already been viewed by god and are unchangable. Therefore, punishing you with hell (or any other form of punishment) is illogical because you never had a choice. An all loving god would likely have not created someone that it loved knowing it would be forced to punish that being. This logic cannot be circumvented, if god knows your choice, which he does by seeing the future, then you essentially have no choice, or no free will.

Actually, no. However, I am against marriage in general, because animals don't "get married". Not that we're animals, but I am against the "one person being the property of another person" approach. Slavery was outlawed by the 13th Amendment. BTW, the answerer who chided the government for getting into the marriage business was right on! If people as property wasn't an issue, the government wouldn't be in the marriage business!
