when im riding my 21 speed, the chain will come loose but does not come off my gears.this usually happens when i stop pedaling and the back tire is going moving the gears with it.somehow i got something stuck.also when changing gears the gears have a delayed reaction causing it to not catch and the pedal to simultaneously strike forward.

it sounds to my like the freewheel bearings (or freehub if you have a cassette) have gone bad. Either way if you need a new freewheel or frrehub make sure you get a new chain at the same time

Sounds like your bike may need some lubricant. Unless what you are describing is normal chain slap, I suspect that the freehub body is binding causing the chain to seemingly come loose. It is difficult to lube or grease on your own without removing the part. I'd bring it to a shop.

Not know exactly what equipment you have, my first thought would be that your chain is stretched and needs replacing. You may want to have your bike mechanic check the derailer and cassette to make sure all is aligned correctly.

Sounds like your freewheel bearings are shot or your freewheel is full of gunk. This only happens to cheap Wal-mart bikes, and is one of the reasons you should buy a real bike from a real shop.

Adjusting the "high" and "low" screws on your rear derailer might solve the problem as they need re-adjustment once in a while. If not , bring it to a bike shop to have it fixed .

you have a complete transmission problem. I suggest you replace all parts of your transmission, specially if its already old. Rule is, once you change any part of your transmission, you should replace the others as well as you might just damage the newly replaced part.
