... really have to have no manners?
Ok.. Is not really an intelligent question... but here is the fact. I have an office job... a cubic station, behind me there is a lady... overweight...no ofense... but what it gets me is the fact that she eats non stop.I really don't care what she wants to do with her body, but she is LOUD doing that...crunching,,,,belching,,, all those disgusting sounds. Is it just me that I can not hear those ?... do you feel the same way? Its driving me crazy!
I spoke with my boss, we received also an email saying that there is no eating at the desk... but looks like she is ignoring this.

Whether skinny or fat, you're NOT supposed to eat to the point to where everyone can hear you in a quiet setting like an office. I,my brothers and sisters were all taught at a young age that if you don't have enough for all, then go somewhere private and eat your food in a proper place.Take your food to the breakroom.
Only a boorish person would belch or fart while eating in the presence of others.
Personally speaking as an overly obese person, I may not be the babe magnet I was ten years ago,but even I know that good manners never go out of style.

When you're overweight, you tend to eat more because your body is used to it. This is probably why she is ignoring the emails. Maybe you could tell her to stop eating so much and tell her to lose some weight, in a nice way. Or, if you're too scared to say that, ask your boss for a new cubicle far away from this woman. I hope this works for you. Good luck!

I tiink...that it has little or nothing to do with weight. The crunching belching, burping, farting... would be so disgusting I am suprised, you've hung in there this long...Nicely tell her to put a cork in it at work,or you'll rat on her to higher ups. Have you ever thought you would be doing her a favor by pointing it out. Get with it silent suffer...there are no victims only volunteers....

That is gross - but I don't think it's something she does because she is overweight because I know some seriously skinny (like skin and bone) people who do it too. More like she doesn't even know she is doing it, does she grunt as well?
I know someone who all the time they are eating its like mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm and they don't even realise it till it's mentioned ( "hey will you shut the eff up?") Then they stop but do it again the next time !!
Can't you get yourself moved to another cubicle where you don't have to hear it ? You could cite stress as a reason because it's obviously annoying you a lot and must be affecting your work.

Being overweight has no bearing on poor manners! To avoid any face to face confrontations, leave an anonymous letter on her desktop, or even have it scroll on the computers!!
It sounds like this person needs charm school with a lesson in etiquette! This behavior belongs at home and with friends of ones own caliber!

You need to confront her about her eating habits. Don't be rude, simply state what you told us to her. DO NOT bring her weight into the conversation, this will make her really defensive and potentially really rude. Keep in mind that she also has feelings, so be nice but firm at the same time.

Manners do come from body size... this person obviously was born in the basement and never brought up.
Print this article out and put it where she will see it. People who have no manners should not be offended. Perhaps she will have a shred of decency left and make a change in her habits.

Obviously it isn't just overweight people who have bad manners... Reading your question proves this. Unless you are overweight and just an idiot as well as rude. As for your coworker perhaps it would be better to simply ask her politely to try and be quieter instead of telling everyone else in the world that you are annoyed by her. Either way I imagine her "loud" eating is easier for the world to deal with than your bad attitude.

I really don't think her weight is a factor here but she is being rude. I would talk to your boss again and tell him it is really affecting your work performance. Is there any way you could move cubicles? Someone needs to talk to her about it so she'll get the message.

Why are you generalizing your problem with this particular overweight person as a problem with overweight person in general?
She has bad manners.
Keep complaining to your boss and possibly boss's boss. It's their business to take care of your work environment.
