if you're asking about today's Islam or in a 50 years from now, the answer will be NO.
but on the very long run, Islam as a belief system is the only logical and sustainable one, regardless of the controversial details that exists in every other religion and can be easily misunderstood.
am not sure if it will rule the world, but a very considerable part of it.

You all need to stop being so ignorant and realize that Islam is the most peaceful religion. You should get out of this little box you live in and stop believing every brainwashing thing you hear about this religion. No one is forcing anyone to become Muslim. It's the fastest growing religion because people actually get out of there box and actually do some research on they're own and realize what a beautiful religion Islam is. Every negative thing you think about Islam is committed by certain people who call themselves Muslims and you just take the easy way out and believe that that's what Islam is all about. And, in Islam, you can only fight if you're defending yourself, not to take over. And by the way, stop acting like the bible isn't full of violence.

No, I don't think Islam will rule the world. It may grow in North America which in its self will change the face of Islam. I know some Muslims who have converted to Christianity. Christianity is not decadent, perhaps some of the people who claim to be Christian are but not the basic Christian faith. I think the people in the West have moved far away from the faith of their fore fathers and that is the reason Islam will grow but I don't think it will over take Christianity in the West.

May you'd be interested to read these quotes :)
GEORGE BERNARD SHAW says in 'The Genuine Islam,' Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936:
- If any religion had the chance of ruling over England, nay Europe within the next hundred years, it could be Islam."
-I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion, which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence, which can make itself appeal to every age.
-I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today.”
-------------------------
SAROJINI NAIDU, the famous Indian poetess says:
"It was the first religion that preached and practiced democracy; for, in the mosque, when the call for prayer is sounded and worshippers are gathered together, the democracy of Islam is embodied five times a day when the peasant and king kneel side by side and proclaim: 'God Alone is Great'...
-------------------------
PROFESSOR HURGRONJE, writes in his book:
“The league of nations founded by the prophet of Islam put the principle of international unity and human brotherhood on such universal foundations as to show candle to other nations.“ He continues: "The fact is that no nation of the world can show a parallel to what Islam has done towards the realization of the idea of the League of Nations."
-------------------------
THOMAS CARLYLE in his book HEROES AND HEROWORSHIP:
"The lies (Western slander) which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man (Muhammad) are disgraceful to ourselves only…How one man single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades….A silent great soul, one of that who cannot but be earnest. He was to kindle the world, the world’s Maker had ordered so."
-------------------------
NEPOLEAN BONAPARTE, writes in his book.."QUOTED IN CHRISTIAN CHERFILS’ BONAPARTE ET ISLAM (PARIS 1914)":
"I hope the time is not far off when I shall be able to unite all the wise and educated men of all the countries and establish a uniform regime based on the principles of Qur'an which alone are true and which alone can lead men to happiness."

People are ignoring the wars wages by muslims all over the globe in order to establish sharia law. Islamic countries birth rate is incredibly high almost 6 times what the amount of babies we produce. Europe has already been islamisized and its laws are kicking in, in formerly democratic societies. At this rate, islam will take over.

Islam is on the upward thrust. whilst they do make converts the main clarification for the upward thrust is they out populate non-Muslims. in the event that they did come to rule the international it does not be as a results of fact they gained wars yet as a results of fact they out populated the countries they emigrated to.

I have no idea.
I have difficulty believing that ANY one stream of thought, including Christianity, would ever gain enough acceptance to rule the entire planet.
Also, I think it would be very unhealthy mentally & emotionally for such a thing to happen.

In the name of Allah most Gracious most meciful
110:1 WHEN GOD'S SUCCOUR comes, and victory,
إِذَا جَاء نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ
110:2 and thou seest people enter God's religion [1] in hosts,
وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا
110:3 extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory, and praise Him, and seek His forgiveness: for, behold, He is ever an acceptor of repentance. [2]
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا

There is a very interesting book out now called "Because They hate, which deals with this interesting subject. It is the true story of a girl who grew up in southern Lebanon, and learned to see many of the devices Muslims use to conquer territory. She also compares the world situation and comes to some interesting conclusions about a global campaign to force Islam on many nations of the world, and it does explain a lot of the terror and violence in the name of Islam.
