I just bought this product called muscle milk, and I'm not sure how much of it i should take, and whether i should just take it 1 hour prior to my workout and within 1 hour afterwards, or drink a shake in the morning and then one after my workout?

Depends on what's in it - we need some details here.

Most importantly is post-workout, when your tired muscles are in desperate need of protein to repair themselves. I also do drink whey protein in the morning. the reason I do this is because after sleeping our bodies are in starvation mode and are in need of something that digests quickly, as opposed to a meal which takes a much longer time.
Muscle milk, even though is probably the best tasting protein on the market, is incredibly high in fat unless you bought the lite kind. If you have too much you might be gaining as much fat as muscle. (i think the standard serving size carries 8 grams of saturated fat)

A big problem with muscle milk is the ridiculous amount of calories per serving. If I'm correct, it also contains almost if not over 10g of saturated fat right? Sure the damn thing tastes great (Cookies and Cream is heaven) but I have yet to read quality research that proves that "natural human milk" is any more beneficial than any other protein drink.

depends on what your goals (and budget) are as to how protein supplements can be utilized most effectively.

for weight trainers looking to increase muscle mass I would utilize Muscle Milk for post workout and 30 minutes prior to sleep.

I would not have wasted money on it actually. Ask these question to the company who made such product. 1) Where did the row material came from? 2) Do you have your own independent clinical study on developing the product ? 3) Has your clinical study been published in Medical Journal and Scientific Review ?
