Yes you are making a great decision. First you are doing something that very few people have the guts to do. Second It will give you great experience and skills and knowledge you never imagined. It will also give you comraride a sense of belonging and courage that you never know you could have. Patriotism and pride in your self and your unit and your country. And the benefits and pay are great also. I am proud of you and you should be to. Thanks for standing up and serving . PS join as SP you will like it. ..... Shadow Stalker

The Air Force has the best quality of life of all the branches, but they advance the slowest too. The Army and Marines are the ones on the front lines of battle in Iraq and Afghanistan and deploy for long periods of time. The Navy deploys on boats for 6 months or sometimes longer, although nowadays all branches of service get deployed everywhere too! Make sure you join the branch that you feel is right for you. DO research before you sigh that contract and get shipped off to boot camp! It's a great career or a stepping stone for the future if you don't know what you want to do if not making the military a career! The military has great benefits, you get to travel, and may help with furthering your education but make sure you do your homework and have the knowledge of what the military is going to be like, otherwise you might hate it. It isn't for everyone but it is a good experience!!

First-if your asking people you don't even know then my guess is your not sure of your decision, and as far as people not having positive things to say-well the military isn't always positive nor easy! It's hard work, long hours, as well as REWARDING. Did you interview active duty personnel-did you do any research about the A.F? Find out how long would your tour be?, would you be stationed overseas?, is it easy to advance and make rank? What would your duty be like? does it mean you would have to stay overnight every few days?, what would your collateral duties be like? I suggest looking into the added responsibilities because many people don't know and recruiters don't always tell you-it's always more than a 7-4 job! I suggest finding out as much as you can because I have been in the military for seven years and I wish I would have done more research and found out what it all entailed! Not all negative but ALWAYS REMEMBER the needs of the service come first! I can tell you my boyfriend of a long time was active duty A.F Although he and his sister (she was active duty-3 yrs) somewhat liked it they were always stationed overseas, Germany, Iraq, Turkey so they both got out..But if you want to see the world why not? And for getting an education ( f you can make the time) its great- My suggestion would be try the reserves first if your unsure-but from what my boyfriend says they treat their people well -the best out of all the branches-Coast Guard Included!.

yes i think you are making a great decision my grandfather was in the air force and he became a great guy. After the air force he got a job as a pilot and he made good money. My older brother is going to the navy and i am scared for him like your parents or family members will be for you. You will get a great education on top of that so you have nothing to lose. If it is something you like go for it do not let anyone sop you.

P.S. Good luck hope you pick the right decision

It's normal to be nervous or have second thoughts regarding any major life decision. And joining the military is definitely a major decision.

Just remember the reasons you originally decided to join the service. I those reasons are still valid...then cast aside your doubts and get mentally prepared for the military. If you decide that your original reasons are no longer valid, that you have changed your mind...then back out now. You'll be doing yourself and those you might serve with a favor.

Keep a positive attitude and you'll be fine.

The airforce is the best branch of service. I was a paratrooper in the army but interacted with the airforce quite a bit.

yes ma'am. it is indeed a great decision. I'm also enlisting in the Air Force. in the next coming months. and then, after all my training and stuff is done, I'm going to actually request that I be sent to iraq. I know, it may sound like a really stupid decision.. but it's my decision.. anyways.. even all of my friends and family think I'm just dumb for wanting to go to iraq. but, I want to defend my country, and the freedom of the citizens in it. and if I die on iraqi soil, then I'll die knowing I did my absolute best.

It's normal to doubt such serious decisions but only you can answer. Ask yourself if you think later down the line you'd regret it cause I think regrets are the worst things to live with. Just remember tho if you choose to go you need to know you could get caught up in war. Good luck to you in whichever decision you make!

Do you think its the right decision for you? Identfy goals you expect from military service and while your take advantage of the educational benefits, the Air Force does have the best.
