This passage is about retaliation. Get it right and stop trying to spin the bible to suit your own purposes.
5:39 But I say unto you, that ye resist not the evil man - Thus; the Greek word translated resist signifies standing in battle array, striving for victory. If a man smite thee on the right cheek - Return not evil for evil: yea, turn to him the other - Rather than revenge thyself.

The bible is not 100% consistent on a number of issues. So you have turn the other cheek, but you also have David killing Goliath as a good thing. David, if I remember correctly, justified his action by drawing the parallel with a shepherd defending his flock from predatory animals. Leviticus further implores people to deal harshly with worshipers of Ba'al, homosexuals and adulterers, among others.
As a general thing you can always point to Ecclesiastes and remind people that there is a time for every season.

You have the most chopped up Bible I've ever heard of.
But I tell you, Do not resist an evil PERSON. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
You always seem to forget half the verse or leave out the important words.

I guess there really is a Learning Disability here. Again U "Pick & Choose' verses out of context. James 4:6-9 sets it straight if U think U can put that many verses together? U are really wasting peoples time here if all U want to do is try to prove Scripture wrong & I for 1 will no longer answer your rediculous questions. John

You are right, but at the same time wrong. We should not resist evil in the context that we should outwardly fight against the attacks of evil but we should resist the temptations of evil and pray for all those around us to not be tempted. Making a stand against something dose not always mean that you have to fight it!

The Bible also says:
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
That is the evil that we are to fight against, but as usual, you've twisted the verses and only quoted the part that makes you look right. We are to be loving even to evildoers, but we are to resist evil thoughts, deeds, and attitudes.

This is in fighting and the evil is an evil person. Therefore anger is evil.
We are to resist the evil spirits, demons and Satan. Remember Ephesians 6 - We don't wrestle against flesh and blood (man isn't our enemy) but our enemy is against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
A Satanist just came on YA very brazen and evil in his thoughts and twisting Scripture as Satan often does. This is the enemy as well as evil spirits and demons.
