A friend is due to have a liver biopsy and is scared to death.

What is involved? Is it an outpatient thing or will she have to stay in hospital several days?

Good news!!
Now there is an alternative to needle biopsy for liver. It is called FibroTest and done by blood screening.

I had it a week ago. The results are very accurate. Tell your friend about this and she can discuss with her doctor. There is a link below to a site where you cab get more information. If you need to see more research results just search for Fibrotest in any search engine.

Hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your friend. Good luck

This will be an outpatient procedure. When my father had it done, he had to check in super early. They put the patient to sleep; a needle is inserted into the liver. He felt no pain, but had to lie on his side for several hours. Hope your friend has nothing seriously wrong.
