Instead of trying to give up the foods you crave, try finding a lighter, cleaner alternative. when I first began my weight loss journey i had a fun time experimenting in the kitchen. These are a couple of the things I discovered:

For chocolate cravings:
fat free sugar free chocolate fudge pudding, made with skim milk. I would mix this with sugar free fat free coolwhip. Yum!

Ice cream: switch to skinny cow ice cream sandwhiches or healthy choice fudge bars

Pizza: take whole wheat (not refined) pita bread, top with tomato sauce add fat free shredded mozzarella cheese. bake until cheese is golden. Top with grilled chicken for some added protein. :)

Banana slices with a little bit of natural peanut butter spread on it. This became one of my favorite snacks of all time. (filling too)

french fries: place slices of potato in the oven and top with olive oil, salt and oregano.

Instead of a candy bar get a protein bar.. Don't mistake these for health foods as they still have lots of fat and sugar, but they have the added protein and vitamins that a kit kat doesn't

switch to diet soda

also, I used to get a lot of my ideas from oxygenmag.com

this way you are still getting your craving curbed. Then you can slowly replace these with even healthier foods, such as apples, strawberries, sweet potatos, etc.
remember, you're human and will give into a craving here and there. This is a good thing every once in a while, as our diets fail because of the constant idea that we are depriving ourselves.
Keep busy as well. Note the times you feel you are craving food. If it's in the evening, pick up a martial arts class or start a creative project you've been meaning to get to. Most of us give in to cravings when we're lying idly about the house. Sometimes it's a bordome mechanism more than anything.

Start by getting them away from you!!
When you grab some of that junk, stop yourself and reach for something healthy. You are in control over what you eat. The 1st few days will be hard, but the cravings will stop and you'll feel great!

Remember, you can still have snacks but pick healthy snacks!

What I've found works best is keeping your cupboards stocked with healthier alternative snacks. Other than that it's mostly mind over matter. I don't know if the cravings really ever go away, so keeping the junk food less accessible seems to help for me anyway.

You have to stop eating them...

Your body gets used to eating certain kinds of foods, and when you don't eat them, you crave them. It works just like an addiction. If you can break yourself from eating them, then after a few days or so, the cravings reduce and eventually go away. Try reading up on The South Beach Diet, they can explain it a lot better than I can.

You have to change your tastes. Next time you go grocery shopping buy a lot of fruit (sweetness of nature), veggies, meats so on....Try to avoid things that are full of chemicals and preservatives. I started doing this to eat better but it also made me lose my cravings for junk food and all other pre packaged goodness. Also I began eating dark chocolate when I wanted something sweet. For some reason it is really good at satisfying rouge cravings.

first of all, do it gradually. if in a day you eat like 5kgs. of junk food : )after a week, make it only 4.5kgs. as long as you keep on deducting, or else it wouldn't do you any good. if this wouldn't work, the last resort is to have an executive check up with your doctor. if by seeing your result wouldn't make you worry, well, you really are in big trouble.
all you need is a little discipline...self-control in all things and not only in junk foods coz if you try to control your cravings in one thing and yet leave the rest of your cravings unchecked, you will not be able to stop it. ok?

Maybe try to stop buying all of the "junk food"
replace sweets with fruit, chips with baked ones, and any other snacks get a lower fat alternative.
Dont deprive yourself from your snacks...pre portion them into bags or buy 100 calorie packs so you dont over do it!

My personal trick to control overeating is to buy only disgusting food in modest quantities. You can't ride an empry pantry. On the other hand, keep low cal snacks like apples and frogs everywhere, incl. at work.
