Bishop Gregory Aymond, head of the bishops' Committee for the Protection of Children and Young People, said he was encouraged by the decreasing numbers. There were 1,092 abuse claims in 2004, 783 the next year and 714 last year. Still, he called the findings "sobering."
Just wondering why Catholics are still protecting the Church by contributing money? When you give money to your Parish you DO SUPPORT CHILD ABUSE.
Shame on YOU!

Priests should go to jail!
If church officials try to protect them they should go to jail too!
That or just bring back the guillotine!
Could solve this problem REAL FAST!
And play Some Heads are Gonna Roll by Judas Priest!

those are the abuse claims and don't reflect the variety of abuses in 2005 and 2006. The claims made in 2005 and 2006 would only be claims and that they may well be claiming abuses in earlier years. the john Jay college of criminal Justice did a learn and stated maximum abuses have been in the 70s and 80s. top after Vatican 2 the Church unfolded to a large number of recent recommendations some weren't so reliable. One replaced into undertaking ethics which replaced into being considered in some liberal Protestant theology. It led to very lots of conflict of words between priest. i've got confidence this had very lots to do with the issue.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. There were NOT 714 cases of child molestation by Catholic priests in 2006. Most of the claims involve abuse that occurred DECADES ago (excuse me for not having a time machine). Of all the people who came forward in 2006, only 17 were minors.

Really! And do we support child abuse when we contribute to the Boy Scouts? Or to school fundraisers? Cases involving scout leaders are just as numerous as cases involving priests. They just don't get the national press. And cases involving teachers and coaches FAR outnumber those involving priests. Come to think of it, we really can't support anything without supporting child abuse, since the incidence of such crimes among priests is just about the same as the incidence in any cross-section of men you choose. You have been brainwashed by the secular press. But you seem to enjoy it.

Just a sobering FACT - the vast majority of the 714 cases are decades old - they are not new cases of abuse. I would not 'cover' for anyone committing these acts but some facts may put things in a different perspective. I will pray for all of the victims and would hope that you would to.

Most sex abusers suffer from short-term memory loss, that's a proven fact.

Protestants shouldn't throw stones in the house of glass they and their sexual and physical abusers built.
