I've always found it scary to read how many Americans own guns.

I don't have weapons in my house, I'm scared it causes accidents. It's better to be Safe than Zorro, is what I always thought.

But what does the Bible say? Should I buy one? If a Christian Nation owns so many guns, it must be have been some tip from God I guess?

really the opposite is much more rational.

its scary how many people in other places do NOT own guns.

weapons don't cause accidents. people being ignorant and nto respecting their weapons, causes accidents.
like in the house I live in, theres a revolver, a rifle, 2 shotguns, I personally have several knives, and a sword (its not a "real" sword, but its real enough to cause harm if I was an idiot, enough that it could be called a weapon... even if a crappy one)

everyone in the house knows enough about all the firearms as to prevent accidents. its really not that hard.

and another detail... (lol) the US is not a christian nation.

We have a right to bear arms. You are right about accidents, but not if you keep the guns unloaded under lock and key. Children also need to be taught gun safety if guns will be present in the house.

I'm not Christian, but I have absolutely no problem with responsible people legally owning guns. As a matter of fact, I've got a shotgun waiting if anyone wants to try to break in while my husband is away....

*And I got on my soapbox...and didn't even answer your question :) No references in the Bible that I could find.

Thing is not weather the bible says it or not it a question that consist more on what we do with them. A frying pan is not bad if i use it for cooking, but if i use it for hitting someone to kill that person thats another thing. The bibble cant talk of guns but it guides on doing the right thing. So if we have a gun then we know by moral reasons that if we use it to kill someone its bad. If you own a weapon(gun) for defensive reasons its not bad because your defending yourself to protect your life or someones. Its a really complex theme but i hope this helps

Hate to be the one to clue you in but there weren't any guns when the Bible was written.

I am a Christian and I own guns. And I have all my life. Never pointed a gun at anyone, ever.

Guns to me: Better have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Btw, Guns in the hands of citizens have saved more lives then they have taken. If we lived in a perfect world that would be great, but we don't.

where do yo live you sound like an easy hit for a criminal. there are so many ways to lock up your gun and keep your children safe. before you go out an buy something take a safety class and any kids over 10 should be present if they can be. use common sense never never never get lazy when it comes to gun safety.
and no tip from God needed.

Don't the Swiss have higher percentages of gun ownership than us?

At any rate, the Book of Squirrel reads: "Behold that if guns are outlawed, only outlaw vice presidents will get hammered and shoot their hunting buddies in the face!"

EDIT: For your pleasure...

The first one is a place in Texas. It's sort of a famous sign. And yes, it's the norm (sort of):

I remember a Bible verse which explicit said, that you should buy a machine gun for your own protection and kill everyone suspicious... or was it the Florida law? I'm not quite sure...

It says to "smoke 'em if you got 'em" Look at David and his sling shot (they didn't have Colt .45's back them), he saved the nation when he got Goliath. Guns are good, people are bad sometimes. Else, cops would carry teddy bears instead.lol

Our country doesn't exactly follow the core values of the religion it espouses.

We have guns, yeah..and hate, violence, religious predjudice. It's quite sad. If people actually acted as their religion dictated, it would be a wonderful world... no world religion teaches evil.

peace, everyone
