People go hungry because they live a world that is less than perfect, in fact, a world that is fallen owing to the ever increasing spread and growth of sin in man. God created a perfect world where man could live in peace and harmony, in close fellowship with God and in a land of plentiful, but man, in his own decision, choose to disobey God, setting in motion the kind of world we live in today.

Your question brings back to mind an e-mail I read about a man who went to a barber for a haircut. During the haircut, they talked and the subject came to the matter of God where the barber told the man that he did not believe that God existed because the world was so full of hungry and suffering people. If there was a God, a loving God, surely He would not allow them to go hungry and suffer. Therefore, to him, God simply did not exist because the world was so filled with hungry and suffering people. The man did not answer the barber.

After the haircut, as the man was leaving the barber shop, he happened to glance across the road and he saw a couple of scruffy unkempt long-haired beggars. He turned back to the barber and said, "Hey! you know something? I don't believe barbers exist." "What do you mean?" replied the barber in an agitated tone, "I am a barber and I just cut your hair!" The man pointed to the two scruffy unkempt long-haired beggars across the road and said, "Well! if barbers exist, then why are there such unkempt long-haired people in the world?" The barber retorted, "That's because they don't come to me!"
The man smiled at the barber and said, "That's also the reason why there are so much suffering and hungry people out there, it's not because God don't exist but because they don't go to Him!"

Friend, if you are hungry and thirsty, not physically but spiritually, I pray that in your search, you will come to the river of living waters - where you can drink to your fill and never thirst again.

In the past I've often been one of those hungry people, but my faith and trust in God is just the same now as it has always been. Odd isn't it? It is actually those of us who are often without food, who have no income, who feel the pangs of hunger who trust God the most.

Guess what? He gives us the food we need. A friend will stop by with a loaf of bread - not much but it's food. Somehow, we find what we need to stay alive and it's often through those who love God and their fellow man who help us.

Now that I have a job and I'm able to pay my way, should I see someone hungry I'll give them what I can to help him - or her. This is how God works - through us - and its happening all the time. It is also interesting to note that I've often heard questions like this, usually from people who have never been hungry, out of work and poor.

By the way, following the cricis in the Balklands, the largest supplyer of aid to the region was CAFOD (Catholic Fund For Overseas Development). It was supplying more aid to the region than the UN. CAFOD is run from the UK and is just one of a number of development agencies run by Christian organisations that provide relief where its needed. If it was not for the faith of Catholic and Protestant Christians, these relief agencies would not exist - where would the hungry be then?

Yes, God could come down and feed everyone - and God has, actually, but some people refuse to share, or just don't know how to. But, God could take care of them supernaturally, you plead. Yes, God could make a paradise right now on earth, but not everyone wants that. Else they would be sharing and truly loving, instead of hungering for power, individualism and material gain. We all make our own choices to live and to learn. Do what you can.

It's simple. We serve a mighty God who is Love and is the creator of everything. Sadly people have decided to choose their own destiny, however at time it is also because those who claim to be Christians pick and choose. God has lay down the foundation of the truth in the bible whoever read it and believe in it will experience and abundance life. They will not be necessary billionaire but will have sufficient to live on. We adore you kind of glory our provider. You are surely awesome.

God said there will always be poor. People are suppose to reach out and help them. And people are to try and help themselves. We can offer assistance as much as we want but, if those receiving the assistance do not take a look at how they got there and try to change their conditions as well, they will become poor again. It wouldn't matter if God came down and "poof" gave everyone perfect living conditions. If people do not learn to maintain those conditions or if there are those in a group who are greedy, the conditions will occur again. Humans often orchestrate their own poverty.

sorry but it is thing a man made ,you people get very greedy there is no need for any one to go hungry, god will grow the seeds but the man made greed takes over.like the british done to the catholics in ireland years and years ago turfed them from there homes and let potatoes rot in the ground rather give them to the catholics,so if god had put more to grow they would have taken them so thats why its man made.

There is a God, he left this world in our hands. This is a sociology question. You are blaming God for something that is a social disaster. When does everybody take the problem in hand? Why don't the non-religious take over and get the problem solved?

People go hungry because they don't accept G-d. My family used to have money problems, until I started praying every day of my life. Suddenly my dad's buisness boomed and made lots of money. If you pray, G-d will get rid of hunger and war and make the place a peaceful place!
