The dentist should deaden the gum so you should be ok. Just close your eyes, it might hurt a little but just remember that although you might feel like you are going to die you will not. Tell yourself that it will be over soon. Just get it over and done with.

I assume that you probably are getting 2 wisdom teeth taken out.About 2 years ago I got 4 wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. I had to take prescription pain medication for about a week. My procedure took just under an hour. I probably didn't eat a meal with solid food for about 5 days, but since you are getting just 2 teeth taken out you may heal faster than I did. There isn't really anything to be scared of, the anethestic will take all the pain away during surgery.

It's easy to become worried about such a situation. I was freaking out last year when I had to have oral surgery to have teeth removed. Luckily for me, they knocked me completely out, and I didn't feel a thing. If you are awake when they pull them, they will numb them so much that you won't feel very much pain. There is nothing to worry about until after the teeth are removed.
Once the teeth are removed, the after care is what you need to be concerned about. Follow your dentist's directions to the letter so that you do not end up with dry socket (a very painful condition). You will need to rinse your mouth many times a day, use a syringe to squirt water in the opening, and you will need to go back for a follow up to make sure that everything heals properly. Stick to soft foods for the first couple of days (I was on soft foods for almost a month). For the first week, I could barely tolerate food at all, I did a lot of Campbells Soup At Hand and Ensure.

if you're really scared ask for a general anesthetic to put you out, the procedure is really quite quick, just a lot of bleeding..it usually wont hurt too awfully bad unless its your wisdom teeth, in that case they'll give ya some vicodin, then its off to dreamland!

its really not that scary, as the dentist should numb your gums first. then its painless, and all you feel is the grazing of your teeth
