Contrary to popular belief, green tea can have as much caffeine as black tea. The higher the quality of green tea, the more the caffeine.

You can't tell how much caffeine tea has from its colour. The finest Japanese green tea - Gyokuro - contains more caffeine than the black Lapsang Souchong.

High grade green tea is made from bud and the first two or three leaves. These tender shoots are the sweetest and tastiest. They also have the most caffeine.

Caffeine was first discovered in tea in 1827, and was named theine. It was later found in mate and various other plants. Eventually it was shown that the theine of tea was identical with the caffeine of coffee, and the term theine was then dropped.
While coffee and tea are both sources of caffeine, the amounts of caffeine in any single serving of these beverages varies significantly. An average serving of coffee contains the most caffeine, yet the same serving size of tea provides only 1/2 to 1/3 as much.

So yes green tea is caffenated, but not nearly as much as a cup of coffee

It depends on the kind of green that you buy. There are green tea that is caffeine free, and some that have about 1% caffeine, like instance cystal light green tea has only 1% cafeine, where as lipton green tea has about 30gm of caffeine.

Green tea has one-third the caffeine per cup as black tea. The longer the tea is brewed (steeped) the more caffeine it has.

Yes, though not as much as black tea. There is also decaf green tea. If you buy that bottled sweetened stuff, there may not be much actual green tea in it anyway, just green tea flavoring.
