Any scientific data or articles that show that organic food produces longer life compared to regular food? Really how much different can a regular apple be than an organic apple at the supermarket?

Actually contrary to the other answers here, organic foods tend to rot more quickly because they DO NOT have pesticides and preservatives sprayed on them. That is why the organic food often suffers in freshness comparison to those shiny, treated apples! lol. As far as longer life is concerned, are you speaking of the life of the fruit, or YOUR life? I would say anytime you can avoid awful, synthetic chemicals in your body, the better off it is. Most cancers and birth defects are caused by such industrial chemicals. So when you pay a little extra for the organic, just know you got less time to eat it!

I don't know if there is any scientific data, but I try to buy as many organic fruits/veggies as I can. There is a definite taste difference, especially in a pear or an orange. Try this - cut an organic apple and a regular apple in half. Do not coat them with anything, ie lemon juice. The regular apple will brown within an hour or so while the organic apple will not brown even after a couple of days. It is the pesticides and chemicals we spray on our produce that causes the color change.

I work in a produce department at a grocery store and there is no difference as far as I can tell. Actually, the organics seem to come in with poorer quality to begin with, but that could be due to handling/shipping conditions.
