That you should be moved and comforted.
1 Th 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
1 Th 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Th 4:18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Mine is Philippians 3:10, with the aid of the indisputable fact that verse shows me there is not any reduce to understanding God, it keeps stepping into the time of all eternity. only the first 5 words were given my interest, " That i'd comprehend Him ", although i respect the completed verse.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8a and 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails....And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (NIV)

Rom 8:5-8
5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
NIV
This was found the first time ever cracked a Bible open and it changed my life forever! I knew what side of the fence I was on (the wrong side) and this scripture pointed me in the right direction.

My favorite "comfort" verses are:
Psalm 56:3-4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Knowing that God is in control and that I can trust Him has gotten me through the toughest times in my life.

"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." - Job.
That is very Greek and heroic, very Humanist, very Stoic. He accepts that there are things happening that he cannot control. Yet he will act as he chooses within that part of his life which he can control, which he chooses to be praising his Lord. job is pro-active, not just reactive.

Numbers 25:7-8
"And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly."
Like a human kabob. Isn't God great?

Mathew 6:30-34 "But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?" "Do not be anxious then, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "With what shall we clothe ourselves?" "For all these things the gentiles eagerly seek; for your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." "But seek ye first His Kingdom and His Righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you." "Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its' own." John
