Are you able to tell when someone is posing as a Christian and asking questions that are obviously meant to anger you? If so do you respond as if they were real or do you call them on it?

Sometimes you can tell, sometimes you can't. The ones who pose as Christians often ask exactly the same types of questions that we get from real Christians all the time. It's the same as the occasions when some believers pose as atheists and ask questions. Sometimes you can tell, sometimes you can't. Sometimes you need to go through a person's history in order to tell, but who can do that all the time? Sometimes I will simply respond to the question asked or the statement made. The response to the statement is a response to the STATEMENT. It doesn't always matter how it got there.

It's very easy actually.

I've been on and off this section for over a year now. I've seen 3 real Christians ask questions.

There seem to be a lot people posing as Christians.

Well, if you're referring solely to Y!A then there's no real way to know if the person is a christian or not. You can always read their previous questions by going to their profile to see what kind of questions they've posted in the past.

It's never easy to tell if a person is really a christian & is really so arrogant to post such filth, or if they are someone posing as a christian to "experiment" or just to make christians look bad.

Some of us IM each other, and it is hard to tell at times. We argue about it and don't always know. One thing that bugs most of us is stupidity. Example: http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/Flatearthsociety.htm

Is that a real website, or is it satire? I think it is real, because I heard those guys on talk radio one night, but I really don't know how it could be.

I usually just respond like they are real, unless it is obvious.

I generally try to give as decent an answer as possible, even to ridiculous questions on the off chance that people might see that I know how to be gracious and can reason about all sorts of things. The hope is that, after having earned it, that I might trusted with something serious.

According to Christians, no one is a Christian.
Every five minutes what was a true Christian belief 5 minutes ago becomes the belief of "not true Christians."

We're supposed to take you seriously to begin with?

It's best judgment. Based on profile, I'm will decide to reply with humor, shoot down the argument and flag them as "typical immoral 'Christian'" [quotes for emphasizing unchristian behavior], or ignore it.

People asking questions on Y!A don't anger me so it's not a problem.

If someone's trying to anger me, they fail today. I do counter hate speech when necessary for the benefit of others where I can though.

I can tell because the questions from atheists are usually spelled correctly.
