Of course there has been chases where the criminal evades the police. A lot of agencies have no pursuit policies, unless the suspect is thought to be dangerous. It's a public safety issue...
In response to another answer that said "some kind of law enforcement we have" or something to that affect.... They dont let the suspect go free because they dont feel like apprehending him or her. They HAVE to let them go because they CANT pursue. They cant pursue because citizens b*tch and moan about pursuits being dangerous, but yet citizens wonder why law enforcement cant catch all the bad guys

I successfully evaded 2 police chases when I was a lot younger and it was relatively easy. I simply got way ahead of them on residential streets and knew where to turn so I could just lay down on my seat and watch their lights go by.

that's all interior the enhancing, like everybody's asserting. those the place the guy gets away get aired, the different ones get decrease. regardless of the certainty that, the only the place the suspect replace into chased down and caught by skill of a police officer with one man made leg replace into rather darn surprising. might desire to have been embarrassing explaining that to his fellow felons.

there have been many examples, but that is a variable scenario, they may have done it (allowed the desperado to escape) intentionally to take the heat off of the situation so as to avoid getting uninvolved innocent bystanders from becoming injured. then there is a well known part that you can run, but you cant hide, sooner or later the bad guy will slip up or be caught off guard, and the door will close behind him, trapped with no where to go but to answer for his misdeeds.

,Many times the chase has been called off for safety reasons, but usually they are caught later. That's the purpose of the radio, and the helicopter.

Sure, they happen all the time. But usually the bad guys get caught anyway cause by then there's a pretty good description of them.

Happens all the time. They just never show these because it will encourage more people to run. That being said, I'd never run cause you cant go faster than a radio or a helicopter.
