Help - I am a student and not used to all this meterosexual business. How do I take care of my skin? Slightly baffled by all this talk of toners, moisturiser, pre-shave balm, after shave balm etc etc. What's best?

It's really hard to say, without knowing what your skin is like without any treatments. In general, the most important things are to keep your skin clean and as soft as possible.

My best suggestion, in all honesty, would be for you to go to a day spa, and have a facial. The aestheticians there should be able to give you good advice as to what's best for your skin.

Toners are generally used to tighten up your pores, and to clean your skin.

Moisturizers are something that almost everyone can use, and often it's good to find one with sun block.

Pre-shave and after-shave lotions and balms will vary from product to product...Most of the time, these are intended to eliminate razor burn, which is a problem you may or may not have.

I agree Clinique makes some great mens supplies as does Arbonne - you need a nice face exfoliating wash, shave cream and toner and an spf cream if you are in the sun a lot.

I got my husband the whole Arbonne regime for Valentines day despite the spf cream he's enjoyed it a lot and his skin has really glowed.

Both those brands are great.

BeautiControl has a mens line called Skin Strategies. Included in the line are:

Scrubbing Gel Cleanser- 4.4 oz.
Double Duty Moisturizer-4.4 oz.
Toning Eye Gel- .88 oz. (if you are seeing lines and wrinkles)
All Over Wash for Hair and Body
Warming Shave Cream-4.4 oz.
Soothing Aftershave Balm-4.4 oz. (if you have burning or sensitive skin after shaving)

Depeding on your needs...I would recommend the Gel Cleanser and Moisturizer to start. Two easy steps to keep your skin clean and healthy.

If you have acne, I would recommend All Clear, but you didn't say that. So I wouldn't use that or proactiv on your skin.

If you are looking for a shaving cream, this is the info for the warming shaving cream:
"Get the smoothest, closest shave imaginable with this lightweight pre-shave treatment , shave cream and conditioner in one! Jojoba and macadamia nut oils soften beard, while lubricating ingredients allow razor to glide easily over skin."

Hope that helps!

Clinique is the best company. Have a Clinique lady give you a catalogue and explain a routine. All you really need is a face wash (2x a day and you can use it as a pre shave toner) and a moisturizer (M-Gel for oily skin and M-lotion for dry to moderate.) Clinique is affordable and safe. (100% hypo allergenic.)
