For those of you who believe: I was devout for about 3.5 years, stopped following the Lord, became desolate, two years ago the prayer leader was interceding for me. I saw a tremondous change in my life but he never says hi to me when he sees me. He told me the Lord told him to never turn me away so he'd be really scared to say no to me, when I ask for help.

I think that 2 times is enough, if there is no progress made then it is a waste of time to approach again, it is the turn for the other then to approach

It doesn't matter what religion you are, there's always gonna be some people who just don't like you. It's sad when they happen to be religious leaders, but that's life. I have a tendency to dislike most humans, but I try to pretend I do to get thru the day. If there's a person I really, honestly, can't stand, I avoid them like the plague. If I were you, I'd go thru though another church leader, and leave the guy alone.

If this is true, this prayer leader should not be a leader at all. He's phony. You have to watch out for these people. They are everywhere. They are snobs who call themselves Christians. Don't give up on the faith brother, there are a lot of us out there who stay aligned with the Spirit, and you often don't find us in churches.

It sounds like he is afraid of what you may ask of him. He must feel a love for you in order to pray for you so effectively. Maybe you could reassure him that the only "help" you need is his friendship.

If all he has to sell is the religion it's up to you to decide that that's the only value his friendship has (and it appears that he's decided that that's all he has to offer). Religion by itself is not a strong basis for a friendship, in my limited experience.
