Cat and dog food is fairly different in many ways. Cats are obigate carnivores, meaning they have to eat meat and their diet should consist of mostly meat and a higher protein level. Dogs are omnivores and their diet should consist of higher fiber than for cats. If a dog eats a lot of cat food, or exclusively cat food, they will be eating far too much protein which can lead to indigestion and eventually kidney or liver damage. A cat can snack on dog food without real harm as long as they mostly eat their own cat food. Some cats with sensitive stomachs will vomit because of the high fiber content. A dog should not snack on cat food because the high protein and fat levels will upset the digestion of most dogs, and also dogs ten to walf down cat food rather than nibble a few kibbles (like the cats do with the dog food) so they take in higher amounts. It's best to ask your vet what measures should be taken.

You are correct. Dogs like cat food because it is often higher in fat (yumm ;) ). But it has too much protein and not enough carbs for a dog diet. So cat food isn't good for him. Keep the cat food out of his reach (like on a counter or soemthing). Keep trying to feed him dog food. He will get hungry enough and eat it. A dog can go without food for a few days (as long as he has water). Leave the dog food out, so when he stops being stubborn he can eat immediately.
I know this sounds harsh but the more you give in the more he is going to refuse the proper diet (imagine if your parents let you eat cake when you refused to eat veggies for dinner). As an aside, there are dog food diets made especially to be palatable to dogs. This is available from the vet but is generally only used when a dog is very ill and refusing food. You may also want to bring your dog to the vet to be sure that there are no medical issues complicating the situation.

Cat food is mostly protien. Basically like a steak for the dog. Of course its going to like it more then its own food, yet do not let it get it for it isn't the healthies thing for it. Feed the cat in a different room the dog is not allowed, or just put the food in a place the dog cannot reach it. Makes it a lot healtheir for the dog.

most dogs prefer cat food. Its also very high in protein which will cause problems in your dog later on so you are right its not good for her.
Solution, put the cat food where she can't get it. Up on a table, somewhere special only the cat can get to. Or feed at certain times. Cats get into routine, and will eat what they need. Leaving food out all the time in unnecessary. I have raccoons in my area, so i only fill their food dish in the morning after the raiding marauders have gone away. Some people fee the cats in the house in the laundry room.
As for the dog, she will get the idea of eating when she is hungry. make sure quality food. you can even put something desirable on it, like meat baby food, or juice from something you've cooked, like chicken broth etc. No bacon, grease or heave fat. Put her food out for 20 minutes, if she doesn't eat it, take it away and wait for the next meal time. No snacks in between.
Good Luck.

Dogs like cat food because its sweet. I would suggest putting the cat food up so the dog will be forced to eat its own food. Might take a while but your dog will get hungry enough and will eat its own food

Just try to mix the cat food with the dog food so he / she would not know the difference.

Dogs usually LOVE cat foods because they are generally better in quality, have better meat protein, in them and contact more yummy ingredients to make them palatable.... BUT cat foods are far too rich for dogs to eat and shouldn't be made available to them.
The fat and protein content is far too high and could result in an allergic reaction in your dog , (such as hot spots).
Sorry.. not cat food for poochie!
