Who has been in charge of caring for American Wounded since this war began

Was it the President, The Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Army, The Generals, or the Republican Congress

Perhaps Halliburton/Cheyney which ignored the terms of it's no bid contract to repair the place.

I had a few problems with this whole Walter Reed thing...the main one being that the commander there didn't know what was going on. I'm sorry, but part of your responsibility as commander is to provide spot inspections of your facilities to check for health and welfare. If you are too busy to do it yourself, you delegate it to your subordinates and make sure it gets done. The commander admitted that he lived right across the street from the building in question, but never went in there...wrong answer, Sir.

Anyway, that commander might have been the best doctor in the Army, and could have been the most caring and compassionate leader known to modern military strategy and to modern medicine...the fact remains that as a commander, he did not do his job in demanding accountability from his subordinates, and the ball got dropped. He is ultimately to blame...that's part of the burdon of command.

Yes!!
Bush should have been in the hospital with a nurses uniform on caring for the wounded!!!!

or...

Maybe someone in the US Army was telling their commanders, and the white house that everything was good to go and they took his word for it.

I dont know about the US Army. But as a Marine that was wounded the US Navy gave me outstanding medical care the entire time I was undergoing treatment at Balboa Naval Medical Center San Diego. I can only guess that Bethesda Naval Medical Center is just as good.

I know the US Army has to have more medical facilities than just Walter Reed. So my conclusion is that this is an isolated incident.

The VA takes really good care of me any time that I need them now that I am out. They are currently funding my education.

I have no complaints honestly. But I guess no matter how much you get from people you can always find something to complain about.

Then again, I never joined the US Armed Forces for a free lunch anyway.

Thats just me.

You know this crap really irks me.
Everyone wants to put blame on the command. Really it was the freaking people that worked there. The nurses and the doctors that were military.
The facility when I went there wasn't all that bad. You have to understand that the influx of wounded soldiers was overwhelming. That doesn't mean that I am being favorable to what was going on-really what wasn't going on.

Now that's the key right there. Who wasn't taking charge or saying anything? Why did it take so long for the truth to come out?
Those are the questions that should be asked. I know for sure that if anything that extreme happened in my unit my big mouth will be heard from here to the states to the middle east.

What I don't understand is members of Congress and senators of both parties make frequent visits to Walter Reed to see the wounded, and yes, get a photo-op. Did none of these people see or hear from the wounded of these alledged problems?

I am sorry...I just think that is sad.

Our church started a prayer group for the wounded soldiers and veterans going to Walter Reed.

I don't even understand all the details.

Do they need more money for the hospital? From the bit I saw on PBS news it seems in order.

Volunteers? I think there is a congressional committee meeting to clear this all up.

I hope it is soon. Please are very hurt there.
