I spent my entire teen years hating everything and everyone (God, Life, Family, Friends, literally everything). I was angry, actually enraged would be a better term. It's rather exhausting to keep that level of anger, rage, and hate going and eventually you become numb (emotionally) and you get tired of the emotional pain and the hating and the anger. You get tired of not feeling anything and you begin wishing the world would just end. That everything would cease to exist. Because maybe, just maybe if the world ceases to exist, then the pain, the anger, the hate inside of me would cease and maybe, just maybe, I would be able feel something again.
I prayed every night for the world to end. That when I awoke, that the pain would no longer be there. But everyday, I awoke, and the pain, and anger, and hate was still with me and I became even more numb and the darkness swallowed me more and more.
Somewhere along the way, I got sick of it all. Sick of being numb, sick of being angry, and sick of the hate. I made the effort to change the way I see the world. I began looking at the positive and looking for hope. Eventually, the darkness ebbed.
I am no longer filled with Hate, Anger, or Rage. I am no longer numbed. I am now filled with Acceptance and Love and a need to understand human nature.
Yes, you can be filled with Hate for a very long time, I was filled withit for 5 years, but it never consumed my soul. At least I don't think it did.

Depends on the reason for the hate I guess....The hate I feel for the person I hate the most is always there like a wart I see every day but it is not consuming my soul.
