The Secret is mostly based on a forgotten 1910 classic - The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. The book itself is free! Just click here to go get it. http://www.free-sogr.wotsnext.com

This is not a slam:

The "Secret" is no secret, just another "discovery" of metaphysical principle, as old as old can be...

Other books that brought out this "secret":

The Secret of The Ages, by Robert Collier (series of books from long ago...later made into one volume); The Science of Mind, by Ernest Holmes; Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill; As A Man (later as a Woman) Thinketh; The Power of Positive Thinking, by Norman V. Peale...Every so often, someone who presumably has never heard of metaphysics, "discovers" the power of mind. It is neither new, nor a secret. But it is real.

I think it's a good way for the author to make money.. package up something that's been around for thousands of years, that anyone can run an internet search to find, and then market it as a SECRET so they'll all want to buy it.

Just saw the movie as people keep bringing it up. Lets say that to me (or the people I know) it is no secret. But generally speaking, I'm very happy the word is getting around.

I haven't read it, but I would like to. Positive visualization is the cornerstone of most magickal practices, once you strip all the tools and ritual away. I find that a mind-set of humility while projecting warmth, affection, and acceptance helps my attitude and ideas about the future stay positive and come to pass.

I think the principle is based on sound doctrine but I think they are using people's lust for material things as a means to attract people to the message. People love money.

I think its a New Age scam, that somehow mainstream media picked up on. Don't we have Oprah to blame for this?

Honsetly, I think it is a crock. It's not like it is original. New Age movements have been pushing it for years.
