Haven't seen Dad for months! And he's got a new girlfriend?

Dad's a trucker and so's his new girlfriend. I have to meet her Friday and I don't know what to do. My sister (trucks w/ Dad) likes her, but I haven't seen Dad since X-mas and I want some alone time with him and my sister. What do I do and say?????

Be nice to the new girl. Treat her the way you would want to be treated if you were in her position. I'm sure she will be very excited to meet you.
If you want to spend time alone with your dad and sister, pull your dad aside, and say just that. You know, when the new gal is in the bathroom or something (so not to be rude). I have been around that block many-a-time my friend. Just be direct with your dad. He will probably be proud of you for it.

Just relax! You'll get through it. It helps that your sister has already checked her out and says she's nice. It's hard to plan alone time with your dad and sister without kicking her out - and that's awkward. Let any alone time just happen naturally. Enjoy meeting this new person.

so be honest. tel him and tell your sis. maybe she and gf can go do something while you reconnect with dad. afterward maybe dad and gf can do somethign together while you and sis have fun. if sis likes her, hopefully she's not so insensitive that she won't be offended by your spending time with dad and sis.

make an effort to reach out to gf, though. you can't isolate her and then expect her to respect your relationships with dad and sis. remember, she isn't you enemy unless you make her and remember that dad likes her, so play nice. good luck.
