The sky is the limit! Just be creative and think outside of the box! Make a list of things you enjoy doing....a wedding should be a reflection of you! If you love to hike and the outdoors, get married at the top of a mountain....although you will limited by what you wear and whether your attendants can make the climb......or in front of a waterfall...I've actually been to one of these..and considered having my wedding at a waterfall, but my MIL through a fit because she wasn't fit enough to hike down to the falls.....it had a path...but we won't go there! How 'bout a sailboat or renting a Yacht and getting married on the lake? Are you avid sports fanatics....plan a ceremony in your favorite teams colors complete with fight song at the reception.....Love golf? have it on the 18th hole of a golf course and reception at the club house! My cousin had a Midevial wedding...like in the Princess Bride in a field of wild flowers!...or you can have it at a castle. Have fun with this! It'll be a blast!

Think of a different location, not just a church, have it at a beach or a playground or a universtiy.
Do a theme.....Vegas/casino (neon signs, cards, dice), Hawaiian/tropical (tiki torches, leis, seashells), Americana(red white and blue, apple pie, hamburgers), Costume (have your guests come in costume too)
Rent your dream car to leave in, not a limo.
Try to incorporate your interests (play beer pong at the reception) or things about your relationship (where you met, how you met, etc)

We had a "Hawaiian" theme wedding. It kept the whole event lite and fun. Lots of color...margarita fountain, turned the middle tent pole into a huge palm tree, sand on the ground. Our center pieces were mounds of sand with shells and sea glass, and candles in them. Being creative kept it affordable and fun. Instead of an expensive cake, I made vanilla krispie squares in 3 large cake molds, frosted them with buttercream and no one knew any different until it came time to serve the cake. We got sooo many compliments on the krispies!! It was fun!

What about a Japanese garden? Your bridesmaids can wear some kinds of kimono style (or Inspired) dresses. Your centerpieces could have rocks and candles in a square container filled with sand. You could also hang paper lanterns.
