Sounds like you lost the vertical sweep. Try whacking it hard on the side. If it recovers, you have a bad internal connection or solder joint, if not, the problem runs deeper. Good luck getting it serviced. Best to stick with highly regarded name brands, the initial cost will prove very well worth it in the long run. ( Don't leave it on too long with the line across the center, you will burn the phosphor on the screen and the set will definitely be shot.)

Usually the walmart tvs are not expected to be repaired. Every year youll need a new one, thats why its cheap.
If you want a quality tv that will last longer than a year get any of of these brands below.
Sony
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
Pioneer

the same thing happened to mine , but mine was an older model , found a handy man in the paper , he replaced somthing , it worked for a little while , maybe another year then it happened again . Just got a new tv

using screw driver try to adjust a slot called "horizontal sync" or "vertical sync" the lines may disappeared. if not you need a tech.

if you any knowledge of electronics its fine ,the line normaly its your frame ic thats gone or check for dry joints
