This is similar to sparklegirljazz's question, but my cat has been acting like a dog lately. She will eat dogfood occaisionally, and she meows at the back door. We also have a dog in the house, and sometimes, we let her outside for like 5 mins, but only under supervision. IS this normal for cats to be acting so strangley? Thanks, M

What's strange? It's OK for cats to eat dog food on occasion, it is meat after all, mostly. Just so long as they mainly get cat food.

As for meowing at the back door - she just wants to be let in or out! I had my cat for 18 years and she was very much an outdoor cat, but we had no cat flap - she just announced to us whenever she wanted to go in or out - in fact she had a special meow for it if we didn't move quick enough for her liking, you could hear it all the way down the street!

Your cat isn't turning into a dog, she's just being a cat.

My own cat thinks he is a dog sometimes:)
Generally when a cat is howling at a door it means she wants into or out of a room. My cat will meow at ANY closed door just because he wants to see inside:)
Some people will encourage you to let your cat outside. I would DISCOURAGE this. Simply because there are so many dangers outside. I think that even a cat that has never been outside would naturally be drawn to the outdoors...but I don't feel cat owners should encourage it.

Sure. Cats and dogs are like kids. They learn from eachother. My son's cat pants like a dog after playing and will chase soda caps and bring them back. Animals are funny with their own little personalities.

Strange behavior for a cat? Cats are not dogs. She is talking at the back door. Do you have human friends that talk at your back door? Maybe they want to come inside. Maybe kitty wants in too(why is she out in the first place)....omg. FREE THE ANIMAL POPULATION FROM STUPID OWNERS WHO CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF THOSE THEY LIVE WITH.
