What is that? America is the greatest country in history in my opinion. What makes it great is the freedom we have to express our ideas, our support or dissent towards and about the decisions and actions the government makes. The government for the people, by the people, of the people. So when someone says if you don't like it then leave, what are they really saying?

People who say things like "America, love or leave it" do not understand what America is all about. The ability to change our country, change our government is supposed to be our greatest strength.

I get that a lot, too.

Loving America means staying here and putting in the hard work needed to see America live up to her ideals. As much as they'd like me to emigrate to France or Canada, I'm not going anywhere.

I love America so there's no reason I should leave. I love the ideals of the Declaration of Independence where it states that all men are endowed with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I cherish the Constitutional notions of checks and balances. I worship the freedoms laid out in the Bill of Rights.

I am disappointed when our leaders and our nation stray from these sacred American ideals. I am disappointed, not with America or Americans, but by the leadership that betrays America.

Some people feel that any opinon that is not like thier own is simply wrong and should not be expressed. Small minds. I dont like the way america is being led right now, anxious for new elections, but that doesnt mean i dont love my country!

Some people believe (rightly so, in many cases) that the most vocal among us who complain about how "bad" we are as Americans and how "bad" it is here are complaining for complaint's sake. Simply put, it means these people are constantly b!tching about something because they're not "happy" unless they're b!tching about something. You also have a large group of people who simply whine about problems but expect everyone else, most notably the already too big and too powerful Federal Government, to do something about it without lifting a finger to do anything about it themselves. So when a person says "If you don't like it then leave," what they're really saying is "Do something about it or shut the f**k up."

This is what Reps are saying now to all of the people they disagree with. Let's hear what they'll be saying in a couple of years when they're not in charge. I guarantee they will not accept this as a response from the Dems.

The Reps and mainly Fox News have convinced the Reps and Cons to believe anyone who disagrees with them is traitor. Pretty damn scary and ignorant too.

Basically, it is much easier to express a higher sentiment (ie Love thy neighbor as thyself) than to actually live it out. What they're saying is: "Everyone is entitled to "my" opinion, and if I want yours I'll ask for it."
