2 minutes for brushing teeth
and suzieq is right about the Happy Birthday song - that's how long you should wash your hands or approx. 20 seconds.

I was always led to believe you should brush your teeth for about two-three minutes after every meal. If you can't brush after a meal always rinse your mouth with water or chew sugar-less gum. OH and Don't forget to floss at least once a day!

My dentist said 2-3 minutes after every meal. Floss, brush and mouthwash before bed... He said turn the radio on and brush through a whole song....

Two minutes is what my dentist told me.
The length of the Happy Birthday song is how long you should wash your hands.

my dentist told me 2 minutes is good. it allows the toothpaste, in my case a sensitive formula, to do its job and coat the teeth.
