When you are an adult, you will be able to make your own choices and decisions. I am not sure what you are talking about specifically, but there are some things that are exceptable for adults and not children. i.e. smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, and things like that.
You will understand better when you get older.

Well part of me reads this and laughs, the other part of me can totally relate. Bottom line is that most parents don't want their kids to make the same mistakes that they do or still do.
(EXAMPLE) Lets say both of your parents smoke, and have a drinking problem. The drinking problem has caused them problems at work and caused them legal problems, their smoking has caused the obvious and thats some severe health complications. Then they see their kids going down the same road, then all of the sudden the parents have a moment of clarity and tell their kids how bad smoking is for them and how drinking can also cause a whole bunch of it's own trouble. The parents for the most part are just trying to save the kids some of the problems that the parents have went thru.
It still seems like a double edged sword, or a double standard if you may.
My dad told me that I shouldn't smoke when I was a teenager, he even grounded me and everything, I didn't listen, he died from lung cancer. I quit smoking.
I can honestly relate and remember what it was like, but now I can see both sides, I hope it made a little sense and if it didn't I am sorry.

Parents are hypocrites because they are adults and know how to handle the consequences of their actions.
Most adolescents tend to blame other people for their faults and mistakes, and parents know this because they did it when they were young.
When you become an adult, you can gain a better understanding of what consequences you will have to face based on your decisions.
That's one reason why the legal drinking age is 21.

Here's why:
Because adults have more life experience than kids do, and they are trying to prevent their kids from making the same mistakes THEY made. Example: I smoke, but I don't smoke around my kids (although it's no secret that I smoke). I would rather be a so-called "hypocrite" than to invite my kids outside to have a cigarette with me!
Ever heard the phrase "Do as I say, not as I do"? Think on that one for a minute.
When you have kids of your own, you'll get it. Until then, deal with it. That's just life, kiddo, and it's not always "fair."

Adults have rights and privileges that are not extended to CHILDREN for a reason. We are over the age of 18 and we are mature enough to make out own decisions about life where a CHILD is not. Listen to your parents, they have more life experience than you and have a pretty good idea of what your thinking about doing or are doing. They are trying to guide you into making better life choices than they did! Concentrate on school and listen to your parents! Good Luck!

I'll tell you like I tell my own children and my SD. Until you pay the bills, clean the house, make dinner, do the laundry and contribute to the upkeep of this house inside and out you do not question me {us}. Adults can do things because they are older mature and know what can happen as an end result often kids want to do things because friends are doing it and do not think of the effects it will have on them. Get us to it when your grown then you can question things

Adults (okay, most of them) have more self-control than kids. Okay, I won't my kids drink alcohol because if they try it, they probably won't be able to stop; whereas I can enjoy a glass of wine at home before bed and it's no big deal. The older you get, the more privileges will come with a show of maturity.

Because they are adults and they are allowed to.....
So, are you saying you want to be just like them then?
I don't think it makes them hypocrites to want you to learn from their mistakes - or to wait until you're of age before making some decisions. I think it makes them parents.
Be glad you have parents who care enough to try to guide you.

1. Momma is always right
2. If momma aint happy, ain't nobody happy
If you aren't clear on that read the above again-sorry but the great injustice of life is that adults can do more than kids.

Because they think as adults they have the right to chose what they do. Drinking for example is legal for adults, but illegal for kids, so adults chose to drink or not, but children do not have that freedom. I will agree that there are many hypocritical parents sex outside marriage. They tell their children not to have sex, but have their own boyfriend or girlfriend spend the night or the weekend. The thing that these parents need to remember is "What you do in moderation your children will do in excess".
