According to Muslim doctrine, all pagans and atheists will be killed if they do not convert, and "People of the Book" (Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians) who do not convert will be subjugated (much like the blacks of the American South) and forced to pay a head tax.

Before i answer your question first let me inform you that today Middle Eastern countries are not run by Islamic Laws but instead they are run by dictators law, so you have to be clear on that.

Even if a non-Muslim state oppresses its Muslim citizens, it is not permissible for an Islamic state to retaliate against its own non-Muslim citizens. It may not unjustly shed the blood of a single non-Muslim citizen living within its boundaries.

Islam already IS a dominant global religion. Its numbers are second only to Christianity, and even Christianity is so divided that certain sects disavow others (see: Ireland/Northern Ireland border, Jehovah's Witnesses, Jesuits, etc.).

Also, don't forget that there are a fairly large number of Arab Christians, who live in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, etc. who live in peace and harmony with the Muslims there, despite being the minority.
