Muslim armies had conquered much of northern Africa, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, and Spain, which had been some of the most heavily Christian areas in the world.

Thousands, and possibly millions, of Christians died during this drive to eventually bring the entire world under Islam.

The First Crusade was launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II to check the advance of the Muslims and regain control of the city of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

I am sure that some atrocities were committed by both sides during this war but by most people's judgment this was a just war.

With love in Christ.

No. I don't agree.

There are some aspects of the crusades that were certainly evil. Largely brought about by mob mentality and not Christian virtues.

There was no reason for Christians to be banned from the Holy Land. We should all be able to worship together.

The treaty negotiated by Saladin for all to worship together is still in place. The treaty is a good thing. So I can't agree that the crusades were evil. I can agree that much of what happened during the crusades were evil.

What NT did you read? certainly not the NIV or the KJV or any other in existence. as a former Christian I can tell you that you have not read the NT or the history of the Crusades or the Inquisition. but In my opinion it was fearful men who led the Crusades. fearful of things they did not understand. The same fear, by the way that got Jesus nailed to the cross. Yes, I know I'm not a Christian but I do believe that there was a man Named Jesus who was killed because of narrow minded people who couldn't understand the wonderful things he did.

Your question makes no sense as the New Testament was written centuries before the 1rst crusade.

I thought they were led by Crusader Rabbit, who was searching for Hitler's secret treasure that was stolen by the vikings and hidden in Atlantis.

I applaud for using the word "believe" instead of "know".
