I was going to after my last child but I couldnt because I only planned to take 3 weeks off for maternity leave. Now I regret not doing it but one of my friends told me that it is more painful then labor. Has anyone out there had a tubal ligation and what does it feel like afterwards?

I had a tubal done after having my third child. He was a C-sec though (he got stuck) so they just did it while I was already open. I was so loopy with all of the medication, so that I really didnt know what was what. I knew that my son had been removed because I heard him crying, and then it took an extra ten minutes or so for the procedure and then to sew me back up. I also had an epidural at this point, adn I dont know if thats standard procedure for getting a tubal or if they knock you out. You should speak to your OB/GYN.

I had mine done the day after having my son and i was awake during the whole thing. I had a epidural and it was fine but after the meds ran out it was painful! it took about 3 days for me to be okay a lil scar in my belly button, but other than that the recovery time wasnt that bad. Just be sure thats what you want to do. hope this helps and good luck

I had mine done as a "40th birthday present" to myself. It's all done with lasers now, so the discomfort is really minimal, and the recovery time almost instant. I have three tiny scars (about the size of my pinky nail), and I spent about a day away from regular activities. Actually went home the same day as the procedure!

Hope this helps.

i haven't-however, i to have 3 kids also, i was going to have my tubes tied but i didnt want to have that done cause i was worried about changing my mind later on, so i got an i.u.d., you get it done at the ob/gyns office and it last for 5 years. you should consider that-its not such a permanent option. good luck!

I have heard that it can be very painful. I myself have three kids and don't want anymore. My husband finally agreed to get "snipped" so I didn't have to go through that. That could be an option if you are still with your partner. Good Luck!

Not that bad, go home same day, done using a scope, small incision, uncomfortable for a day or so, whole lot less pain than a baby,,

You are designed to find/be found by a man you think there ought to be more of and help him make more of him. Any process in conflict with that is disfunctional and unhealthy and to be avoided. Try Jesus. Try Jesus again. Mary did, without a man. the work of God is http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/k/kjv/kjv-idx?type=boolean&q1=work&operator1=And&q2=of&operator2=And&q3=god&rgn=verse&restrict=All&size=First+100
