Burnt alive in the name of Christianity, the so called religion of love. Isn't it odd they have to wait to walk in the Holy land while Witches walk in it now?

Not only women were convicted, and of course they were not bad. People have known through ages how to work with energy directly. Basically, its the same thing as praying to a higher power: set your intention, direct the energy and release the desired result.

Didn't the priests do exactly the same thing in their ceremonies? Of course they did! The only difference is that they had the power to convict others, the "devil worshippers".

(Actually, the name devil comes from Latin, "debil". That means "weak". The gods of the losers were weak, hence the name "devil". The gods of the winners ruled!)

The 'burning times' that wiccans bang on about are a bit of an exaggeration, to say the least. far fewer were executed for witchcraft than is popularly believed, and the normal method was hanging anyway - I think a lot of people confabulate the witchcraft trials with the Inquisition trials for heresy.

But of course, you are right in principle - innocent people were harassed and persecuted in a horrible, Kafkaesque, 'damned what ever you say' way. But the bible clearly says, 'Suffer not a witch to live amongst you', so the people doing the persecution were only products of their culture.
(Sarcasm) Aren't you glad we have moved on to such tolerant and secular times, where religion does not influence people's actions any more. (/Sarcasm)

Well, in the past it is true that people killed women saying they were witches. But now witches and wizards (like Harry Potter) beacuse their actions and powers are touchable and avalabile to anyone, in contrast to the power of God, which we only see when something bad happens.
Did my answer had anything to do with the question you asked?

I have many friends who are witches, and I love them, so...

Most of the people I've known who choose the path of witchcraft tend to be: more creative than most, inquisitive, emotionally intuitive, and thoughtful. They are also self-determiners: they believe that the power to change their lives and the world around them lies in their own hands. They are people who think for themselves and forge their own path -- they have to be, since witchcraft (at least as I've experienced it) is a practice that places a high value on autonomy.

All in all, there's quite a bit to admire about many witches.

Most of the women called witches in those days were nothing of the sort, more like victims of mass hysteria, and property grabbing neighbors falsly accusing them to take thier land.
One more witch here...
Universalist / Pagan
I seek the Divine in all around me, in particular in nature...I like to think that's pretty special...

Well witches are peaceful and at one with nature as far as I know so the answer to your question I suppose would be no.

They weren't bad at all, it was all based on assumption and fear. (Technically, the fear of a super-hot woman still rampages in the hearts of men everywhere) But I would never kill someone. In fact, Pagan and Wiccan women tend to be the best friend you can have because they listen and understand.

In fact, about 3% of those burned at the stake weren't even witches. They were either super attractive or super ugly. Those were centers of fear for the time.

Well. Gotta love the witches because they never blew anyone up or mass murdered in the name of God.

Wiccans. I salute thee. Here's a cold bud light to you.
