Interesting. If we were to strip the stuff that was added to change or alter this ancient religion, everyone would resort back to the old practices.
Women would cover their hair, there would be no graven images and we would address God as Yahweh.

"Christianity was the ultimate product of religious syncretism in the ancient world. Its emergence owed nothing to a holy carpenter. There were many Jesuses but the fable was a cultural construct. Nazareth did not exist in the 1st century AD – the area was a burial ground of rock-cut tombs. Following a star would lead you in circles. The 12 disciples are as fictitious as their master, invented to legitimise the claims of the early churches. The original Mary was not a virgin. That idea was borrowed from pagan goddesses."

They had the Pentatuch, the septuagint which Jesus quoted from, some might include the Talmud ( though Jesus had problems with it), various apocryphal writings including Enoch.
Oh yeah, the minor prophets.
And oh yeah again. I keep remembering things. Job, the prophets, Pslams, Proverbs, Ruth, Ezra, etc.

Jesus the Son Of God was with the apostles so they didn't need scripture all they needed to ask was Jesus! But Jesus did have scripture and recited them to pharisees and saducees and to the apostles. The priests in the temple had scrolls and they recited them to the people.

Jesus did not "have to" read any...He already knew it all... He is The Author of the text we now call The Old Testament. The basis of which was all the holy texts that were in writing at the time.

I think this is a trick question . When the holy spirit entered the apostles it was at that time that the knowledge of all scripture was given them. And why would Christ have to read scripture at all. CHRIST IS THE LIVING WORD.

Just the old testament. When Jesus refers to the scriptures or the law of the prophets, he refers to the old testament.

Whatever Jewish texts that were available at that time. Mainly what we know of as Old testament writings. No doubt there were other scrolls as well that existed for the teachings of those religious leaders at that time.
