Get her one thing that is special that will always be with her (like a collectable teddy bear or figurine for the nursery that goes on a high shelf:) so she will always remember how proud and happy you were on her first birthday! Then get her a toy that she can use now. Don't go over board-I found that between what we got our son and all the gifts from family and friends we had more stuff than we had places to put it! And above all have fun!

For my son's birthday, he got some really neat things. My favorite toy he got was the corn popper ride-on/walk-behind. Other things he got included new clothes, shoes, etc., He also got another neat ride-on/walk-behind, it is red and makes tons of noise (or none at all!). It also has a shape sorter on it... I'm looking for it right now online, I'm thinking I got it at Babies R Us. Got it! Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Stride to Ride Learning Walker.

Let's see... other things he got included gift cards for Target, Wal*Mart, etc., money for his bank account, a savings bond, things like that. He also got a lot of books, baby einstein dvds, etc.

Another toy I found online just before his birthday was called MagIQ by Tiny Love. It's siply ADORABLE! It's a stuffed animal that interacts with a DVD. You can also buy a CD for the car that it interacts with. You can choose a lamb, dog, or cow. If you choose the cow, the lamb and dog appear on the dvd/cd, etc. It's approx. $50 and the CD add-on is another approx. $15. He's getting it when his baby brother is born!

I listed a bunch of other toys, good for boys and girls, below in the source section.

Hope this helps!

Hi, how about a personalized book? Kids love to hear their name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Three Little Pigs, Mother Goose, Teddy Bear Land, Farm Animals, Noah's Ark and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift... Good Luck!

A cute Teddy Bear would be nice.

I gave the same to my daughter. She is 5&1/2 now. She loves that teddy and still plays with it.

Think about what she enjoys doing most or what excites her makes her happy. There is not much you can get a 1 year old that they will play with for a long period of time. But a doll or some sort is good. Good luck and congrats on your 1 year old!

I just got my little brother a $100 savings bond, of course, it only costs $50, plus it will gain interest after so many years. I mean, come on, she is only one, it's not like she is going to remember what she got. However, she will be thankful when she gets to the age of spending money and she has a nice interest-filled savings bond. Good luck!!

My husband bought my daugher her first dolly for her first birthday. I didn't think of getting her one, because she wasn't interested in dolls yet. But very soon after her birthday she started playing with her, and now (she's 1 1/2) she loves her dolly! She calls her her "baby". It's really cute! I think it's sweet that my husband bought it for her.

So, a nice doll is a great gift.

A Disney Princess tent in the camping section at Target. My one year old lives in hers. It's cheap and big so it looks cool!
