We beat them once before and we could do it again but the chances of The US and the UK going to war is like M. Jackson making a come back never happen. Beside we are allies in the fight against Terrorism.

To the guy above me, if you think about it, we mostly needed the French's help because we barely had a standing army when the Revolution began, and after that it was slow going for us. Before the official start of the Revolution, we relied on militias for military support, and when there were confrontations, the US was usually outnumbered. We weren't exactly the best fit troops out there. I would say the US would win, but would take quite a bit of damage doing so. As for the technologically comparable part, I'm going to say no. The USA spends more than its closest 12 competitors on money spent on its military...I'm guessing if we saw the need for it, we could put out something a full generation ahead, and that would only be part of what we have already developed. And we do have the most lethal and numerous Air Force and Navy in the world. Our stealth technology is unmatched. Although the USA would probably win, she would most likely take a few hits herself.

However, war with the UK is highly unlikely. Most nations part of the UN don't usually get into fights with each other.

To clarify some historical inaccuracies being paraded about here....

The American Revolution was won in no small part thanks to the intervention of the French, who sent troops to help the revolution and who also attacked British interests elsewhere to divide their attention. When you think about that particular conflict, there's no realistic way that the revolution would have succeeded otherwise. Britain at the time was the equivalent of a super power and could have brought a much larger force to bear. I know this goes against the romanticised image portrayed in the US, but it's a fact of that conflict.

In the War of 1812, British forces were able to capture forts in New York and also burned down the White House. It was ultimately not a victory for either side as neither side achieved what they wished to achieve.

As for a modern war, the US would win through sheer numbers. British training rivals (and some would argue exceeds) that of the US, but equipment wise Britain does have the same advanced technology on offer. An attempt to invade Britain would result in a very bloody nose for the US and an attempt to 'hold' territory in Britain would result in guerrila warfare that would make Iraq look like a picnic.

Hehe... Wouldnt be much of a war. America has the capability to bomb Britain (the whole thing) without even flying over and risking planes. The island is pretty small compared to America or even Texas and on top of that London would be destroyed which would pretty much lose the war for Britain. I know Britain has a technically advanced military too but they dont have the money or manufactoring capacity or population that America has and they would not risk nuking anyone because they are not stupid. I like BRitain and I hope that we never go to war with them again....

If after Jan 20,2009 with a democrat president, the UK would win without a shot being fired. The democrat president would surrender before the war started.

Well, considering that we've been at war with the Brits twice so far and have kicked their butts both times, I'd say this one was a no-brainer.

I think the UK would win, because it wouldn't take them 5 years to put armor on their hummers, and they already conserve energy pretty well.

Simple, just kidnap the British troops and they will make apologetic videos asking the UK to stop.
