No, it's probably the worst "diet" product ever put on the market.

The 4 main ingredients are skim milk, sugar, fructose, and cocoa. In other words, milk, sugar, and sugar. Other ingredients include various vegetable oils, emulsifiers, and a dubious vitamin blend. A 375ml (1.5 cups) shake contains 12 grams of protein -- slightly less than what you'd obtain drinking the same amount of 1% low-fat milk.

There is so much sugar in these shakes and so little fiber, your blood sugar levels are going to go through the roof -- especially if you happen to be hyperinsulinemic, or hypoglycemic. So you can look forward to intense cravings, fatigue, unproductivity, mood swings, and more cravings.

Because caloric levels are so low on the Slim Fast diet plan, you're likely to lose as much muscle (lean tissue) as you are fat.

The Slim Fast Diet is seriously, fundamentally flawed. It's expensive and ineffective. The nutritious shakes are anything but -- you'd be better off drinking low fat milk. Caloric levels are much too low, and muscle mass is threatened.

In the end, this diet continues to sell because of the marketing dollars behind it, the simplicity of the plan, and the general lack of dieting fundamentals by the buying public.

slim fast is a joke

I had tried that diet several times in the past. I just recently discovered Isopure. It has a much higher protein content which will keep you fuller longer. It's sugar free and carb free. You can get it a GNC but it's costs quite a bit. I drink atleast a shake for breakfast and sometimes dinner. I have cut my portion size down to a quarter of what I used to eat. I have lost 45 pounds in 6 months.

If you can follow it 100% then it could help if you are ONLY trying to loose a few pounds. If you drink too many of the shakes then you will end up gaining weight (it is actually a weight gainer), and as for the snacks... Well, these ity bity snack bars don't really taste all that great and don't fill you up. I'd rather go eat a huge salad or something more filling. If you do happen to like the taste of their snacks, can you stop with one???

I think nowadays it is.....But, about 16 years ago, my Mom lost a great deal of weight from it, and then all of a sudden she began getting pain in her stomache and went to the doctor's for it, and they said it was her gall bladder, needed to be taken out...And during that time, my sister's and Mom were reading about many women compaining about having gall bladder surgeries done, and they too were on the slim fast diet's, but no one ever sewed or looked into it enough to confirm that it actually was from the "Slim Fast" diet.... But, my mom still swears by this diet being a really good one, inspite of losing her gall bladder!! Good Luck to you, on this diet if you choose this one!!! Smile!!!

waste of money. as are most of the advertised diet products.
all you have to do is count your calories and make sure you spend more than you consume.
