A better question would be, how many lies were told to you whether or not the teller knew they were lies?

Lies are words which we say to cover our guilt, to protect people, to protect ourselves, to give us an umbrella till we can fix our problem. I believe when we lie it's like putting on a suit of amour, we feel protected. I have protected myself and others many many times.

I would doubt anyone who claims to lie less frequently than once a day. We lie all the time - even "oh, no, I'm feeling fine" when we aren't is a lie.
