Try the local "Y" or a local fire department; some offer classes from time to time free or VERY inexpensively

There is a difference between a CPR class and CPR certification. Certification is almost never free (unless someone else is paying for it.)

You can take a lot of on-line classes (of questionable merit and accuracy) for free, and many communities offer free classes, but I don't know of anyone offering free certifications.

I did mine for free at the local British Red Cross, they were running a kind of First Aid awareness week and were offering courses for free. You can get courses at your local college too, they might be free if you are on benefits but Red Cross or St John's Ambulance are best bet.

Some jobs teach it as part of their job training. Military, police, fire dept., etc. But typically you need to pay for it.
