Hi;

I have a question, I wonder if someone might know about. I have two kittens. One is 10 months and one is 6 months. The older one just had her first estrus cycle (heat) and it lasted about 3 days, and she's just fine now. The little one, who is still very much kitten looking, seems as if she might be having an estrus cycle too.

Is it common for kittens to have an estrus at 6 months old? And is it common for them to have them together? Does one stimulate the other?

Thanks

Sounds like they are both in heat.

There is a TERRIBLE pet overpopulation problem in this world -- please have your cats spayed.

Here's a list of Free or Low Cost spay-neuter clinics in EVERY State in the US.

Most kittens can breed at 6 months of age, which is when a veterinarian will recommend that you have them spayed or neutered.

Most females who live together have similar cycles (this is true in humans too) because of the hormones/pheromones. One most likely does stimulate the other into heat.

The best thing to do would be to get both of them fixed to prevent any unwanted litters.

Yes, cats do start going into heat at about 6 months old. I don't know about one stimulating the other, but it is possible with the pheromones.

You'll want to get the girls spayed ASAP, unless you want more little kittens than you can shake a stick at.

Yes, kittens can go into heat at 6 months and sometimes earlier.

Yes, they can sync up with other cats just like human females some times sync up.

And YES, you should spay them both NOW to avoid either getting pregnent later. Or even worse... deadly pyometra.

Spay them Both asap!

They will start to spray and go into heat very often until they escape your home and mate...
