Legally and also in terms of genealogy you are the child of your legally adopted parents. When you are older you might be able to access some information about your biological parents, but how much you can do this depends on where you live. Some places have the information available while other places have it totally closed. Check with your own state.
By the way, you are not your parents, you are you and who you choose to be.

There are a number of sites specific to registering what information you have, ie white female born 2/4/1969 in .
One thought I seldom see, is being sure you consider all aspects. One of those is hopefully that you acknowledge the feelings of your adoptive parents, that wanting to know your bio background doesn't mean that you don't love and appreciate them. They are more likely to help, if your questions don't make them feel like you are abandoning them. In some adoptions, they will know the names involved.
Some adopted kids are angry at their adoptive family, and are searching to "get back" at them.
Some adoptees find a good relationship with their bio family, if they locate them. Other times, they find out that there was a really valid reason why they gave up the child, or the child might have been taken away because the parent was unfit. If you are prepared for that possibility, it won't be as hurtful.
I have an adopted son.. and kept contact with a person who can find his bio family, IF he ever chooses to do so. I have also explained to him, that I would only give him that info, if I know that the mom consents to him knowing. I am also researching my son in law's bio family, but with discretion... they are not the "nicest" of people.
Good luck.. I really understand all of us who want to know their heritage.

Talking to whoever adopted you would be a good starting point. Contact the agency that processed your adoption paper. Locate your biological parents, etc....

That's a good question. Start out by asking your adoptive parents if they know anything about your Biological family.
Good luck :)

you are adopted? then........how did you find out that you're adopted? did you find out because your adopted mom or dad told you or did you find out yourself......maybe if you use the same way you found out that you were adopted then you could find out who you are..............

you must have a token of appreciation (a Hathken key, you can get one at your local palm-readers shop) and on the fifth full moon of the year you must put the Hathken key into a large vat with a summoning potion in it. then you will repeat the following phrase "Enel Nathrak Uthbeck Dak Ienvay" thirteen times, this will call forth the almighty demon-god Vocah. you must also have sacrifices (small insects such as ants or flies) for each sacrifice you give you will receive one answer, don't waste time asking him if he is really Vocah. just ask what your real name is and if your real parents are still alive. you may want to ask if they are together.
