It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”. For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people

seems like bible-god even flooded the entire earth, mass-murdering everyone on a planetary scale.

good thing he doesn't lose his temper!

odd, though... a god, who knows the future and the past, is surprised by an "outcome" that he had to already know would occur...get angry ---- and then mass-murder the entire planet. if that really was "god" -- then god sure is an idiot, if he expected something else, but got angry, and killed everyone to start over....

Okay. I believe in this God 'who ordered the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”.

And you are saying that you don't understand how it would be amazing to worship such a God. And I suppose that you don't understand why the Bible says that it is better to fear God?

Is any of that getting through to you? lol

A mad dog goes around biting and mauling people, does not the dog's owner have the right (and responsibility) to put the animal down? Is that murder? Is he a bad guy because he does so?

God is holy, He is utterly intolerant of man's sin. No one is "innocent", all of us are deserving of death. He could just incinerate all of us immediately and He would be right to do so -He made us, He gives us life that is His to take at any time.

You think He is unfair or vengeful because He doesn't live up to your standards. In your world, you determine right and wrong; you have decided that being a "nice" person, but refusing even to acknowledge the One who made you is righteous. Yet God declares that are best good deeds are like filthy rags when they are done apart from Him.

The loving nature of God is demonstrated in that He made provision for our redemption while we were still His enemies. He only asks that you make the choice to receive the free gift of Jesus' death on the cross as your own. He doesn't force that choice on you. If you still want to think He is unjust or evil, fine, you can be quarantined away from Him for all eternity.

What really would make Him a "b**tard" as you put it, would be if He broke His promise to save only those who chose to believe in Him and let people "slide" into heaven with their rebellion against Him, still intact.

This is EXACTLY the problem of being under the law. Every sin is ultimately punishable by death. What you assume here is that every single death was innocent of all sin. A fair reading of the text makes it appear that they are being punished for David's sin; however, does this automatically preclude them from being punished for something else?

Admittedly, this is a weak argument, and I will happily admit such. There is also the notion of federal headship. Under the leadership of David, he became responsible for the nation. God was originally the King of Israel and was rejected in favor of Saul. The consequences then follow. If God is the King, it is up to Him then to find a way to deal with law breakers. If David is king, it's his problem.

I think you are the sick, disrespectfull bastard, that guided by your lack of understanding, lashes out and bashes that which is beyond your comprehension.
You, sir, are probably one of those who would let child molesters and rapists go free because you don't even understand or respect the law of the land, which would most likely radically change if someone you love was a victim of a hineous crime.
OH! come to think about it, maybe if YOU were the victim you would change your mind.
Perhaps if you could find it in yourself to feel some sympathy for the death of the innocents, you would BEGIN to understand th justice of The Almighty, who will not allow His children to be either perverted or destroyed by the perverse.
IF YOU were any kind of responsible parent, maybe you MIGHT begin to understand the zeal of a father for his child, and YES, you MIGHT even kill for their safety's sake.
God did that to His Son Jesus, to pay for your stupid ineptitude.

I think it;s a good thing He ordered "Thou shalt not kill" to me and all Christian Believers so that people like you may be spared.
You need to read The Bible, not into it.

god was angered when David did not have faith in God's sovereignty to defend David by God's powers and not man and the numbers or size of his army. Especially after all God had done for David and the Jewish armies. It is an odd thing but God is a jealous God and wants us to lean on him not our own understanding.

The old Testament was Gods cleansing of the corrupt and debauched people. Sodom and gommorah as an example, plus many more. Then in the New testament it is no more. God has done his work . Amen.

God gets blamed for all the nasty deeds we get up to but is given very little credit for the good. We love to use escape goats and excuses for our misdeeds. Look at 9/11

lol I think it's funny that a previous poster said that God didn't order murders.. she obviously hasn't read her bible, where God orders the genocide of several nations, the killing of any disobedient child, the 70,000 you mention, etc...
I refuse to worship this god on moral grounds, period. I don't care whether he exists or doesn't. If I can be more moral than he, he doesn't deserve my worship.

In america, we cannot murder as one of our laws, yet the government (or Justice System if you will) can have someone executed for their crimes. So, you will have to define what you mean by innocent, because according to God, you are either innocent by keeping every single one of his laws, or by accepting the price paid for your "crimes" in Jesus.
And I am not totally sure where you get your reference of the census from, can you be more specific so I can check that out?
