Here are a few passages that have some bearing upon your question :

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

... but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

... and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

What do you think? Should they?

this has been a long drawn out debate in Christianity.

the way i see it is this - yes the bible (new testament) says that women shouldnt, but it is possible that this isnt what was originally meant, or that the context has changed along with society. Paul says that he doesnt condone it, but he doesnt say GOD doesnt condone it. so it may have been his personal preference. consider that the new testament (besides the Gospels) were all letters written to churches in the early times. these werent likely meant to be documents of faith. but as time went on people wanted to know what the original deciples and the earliest followers of Christ said and they began to write down these statements. after time they became cannon.

Second, in the old testament there are a few (tho not many since it was rare) references to women who did great things in the name of GOD and lead the entire Isreali nation. for example the prophet Deborah was the great prophet of her time and lead the Isrealites to victory against a dangerous foe.
even tho it is rare, consider that GOD often chose the person who was best suited to lead. often that wasnt a woman back in those days, b/c men were so unwilling to follow a woman. it makes sense that GOD chose so many more men than women b/c men were in position to become leaders more easily.

Not according to the good book.

1 Corinthians 14:34-36

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

The scriptures say that the women must remain silent in church. Women teachers will have to use sign language then I guess...

1 cor 11:5 every woman who prays and prophesies with her head uncovered dishonours her head.

so how can a woman pray and prophesy in the church if she has to stay silent in the church, as you read on the other posts? back in those days in corinth, woman were uneducated and some would speak up in church in the middle of a service if they didn't understand something...that is why Paul writes that woman should stay silent in the church and ask their husbands when they get home....woman have every right to preach pray prophesy and lead worship... the head covering thing is another question altogether which i will answer if i come across a question about it.

Yes. Since they aren't inferior, don't have smaller brains or tiny little souls, why shouldn't they?

We have moved on from the day when women and children were the property of men. It's a pity that "god" ever thought that way.

In churches today, anything goes. Gay priests, political meddling, immoral behavior, and other things. Hey, why not female teachers?
