Constantly choosing to say no....and trusting God to do it through you in His strength...You have to realize that satan wants us to fail, if we give in we are making satan happy. We need to choose (it is a choice) to obey God and give Him the glory...

Temptations, addictions, etc. come in two sizes--the small ones and the BIG ONES.

For the small 'stuff', you just agree, just say "yes";
"No
won't work--that would be denying the real attraction.,
Under your breath or silently, you admit this is something
sort of wrongly attractive.
"Yes, you're a really beautiful cookie, yes I'd like to make off with that eraser, yes, this's or that's appealing."

Then you say,
"But I have to go right now. I have something more important to do. I'll be back."

So for five minutes, you busy your brain on details, do
something, ignore, avoid the temptation, but work on something real, anything. Don't even look at the temptation.

After five minutes have gone by, or later, when you come back to confront your nemesis,it will have lost the power to interrupt your life; you can look at it and say, "You're attractive all right. But I don't need to mess myself up today. I have more important things to do than to give in you a weak little temptation like you. Bye now, little one."

For the bigger ones, you have to learn to program yourself with a strong context--of feeling emotional positives toward things good for you and feeling emotional negatives toward things you know are bad for you. It's a matter of teaching yourself to be "in context" of what's good and bad for you. Just knowing won't do it for you. You have to re-program your emotions so they're in accord with your judgments, values, etc. That takes time 8 months--to two years or more.

It may take the eight months or a lot longer.
Because that's long enough to convince yourself that even if this is a big temptation, dealing with it it is a little problem--one you can handle by the five-minute-long time-out trick I recommended above.

Good luck.

If I am constantly fighting the same temptation then I know that there is a stronghold or soul tie that is giving Satan a foothold in my life. I then meet with my accountability partner and confess to her my sin and we pray for the true root of the sin to be revealed. Once that is revealed then I will repent and we will pray for the stronghold to be broken and filled with the love and sacrifice of Jesus' blood. He can and will take care of those issues if you turn them over to Him. You can not overcome the temptation but He can.

Pray to Jehovah God through Jesus and meditate on certain scriptures that will help you to resit the temptation. Fornication for example, flee from fornication. Joseph in the Bible he fled. Look at what happened to King David for committing adultery. Jesus said do not continue looking at a woman, if you do wrong desires could take root in your heart.

Jesus said, "Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation."

Paul taught, "...taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ."

Jesus taught by example when tempted, "It is written..."

James taught, "Submit yourself to God and resist the devil and he will flee."

Paul also taught, "Taking the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

Taken together, I would advise you to memorize a scripture for your particular area of weakness. Make it a matter of regular prayer that God would help you be aware when you are being tempted because the devil certainly won't warn you.

Watch yourself and EXPECT there to be a temptation. When it comes, submit it to God in prayer, "Lord, give me strength." Then "swing" your sword by saying under your breath, "The bible says [insert quote here]. Satan, leave me be in the name of Jesus." Continue doing this until the tempter leaves. If it is practical to do so, walk away from the temptation.

Every Human has the freedom of choice!

We chose according to our sense of values, Integrity, Virtue, Ethics, Morality, sense of responsibility! NO ONE ever chooses for us!

What YOU want to do is never a real issue with you! It wll be according to YOUR sense of values, your character - what YOU want to do/chose! The word temptation is an extremely weak excuse for not doing what we know we should do! Knowing means knowledge, knowledge is power, power means strength.

By not putting yourself in a situation where you know you will be tempted. Example: Why would someone with a drinking problem go into a bar to drink a soda ?

Sometimes I don't. The best place to start is to get up in the mornings and ask God to help you get through the day and not do the things that He has warned us against. All things are possible through Jesus Christ and God!!! God Bless.
