II Corinthians was an encouragement by Paul to the people. I Timothy was a specific charge from Paul to Timothy. God Bless.

I'm not sure I understand the question. 1 Tim 6:17-18 are instructions to the Rich. Cor 8:7 is talking about excelling in giving and 8:8 is about Christ as our pattern (look at 8:9). In heaven, Jesus was rich through the love he shared with the Father and the Spirit. On earth, we were poor in our estrangement from God. Jesus emptied himself on the earth so that we might be full in heaven!

1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded; nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1Ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

2Co 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
2Co 8:8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

In Timothy Paul is warning people who are rich not to trust in those riches. In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul says that just as you have abounded in everthing else (faith, utterance, knowledge, love, etc), so also you should abound "in this grace also". If you read the entire chapter, you will find that "this grace: is giving.

The way a person keeps from trust in riches is to hold them lightly, and be able to give them. Knowing that God, not the riches, is your sources, and he will supply your needs. That is why he tells the rich to be ready to give, and the others to "abound in giving". The two verses support each other.

You are just looking at scriptures telling us that if we are rich, To help others out, But The riches of Christ is far more than riches of worldly things, It is not saying that a rich man can not go to heaven, Most rich people put themsleves first that is why it is hard for them to go to heaven, But we have to lay aside our worldy riches & take on spiritual riches, But it does not mean that we have to give away all of our money or earthly goods, Because God also knows that we have to have something oursleves to live on. In other words, don't worship your worldly goods & but seek Spiritual riches.

I don't know! What's the problem? Be rich in good works for the sake of our Testimony as Christians, that we do believe in God and the Sacrificial love of Jesus so that we depend on His grace.
What's your issue with these passages?
We should imitate the good examples that preceded us.
No problem!

The Lord wants us to be generous not greedy. We are to help those in need. For God loves a cheerful giver.
